Security was never phase two for us

Most startup enterprise deals don't die in legal. They die a step before, when the prospect asks them for SOC 2!
The product demo lands very well, your champion is excited and a quick pilot goes well. Then procurement sends a security questionnaire with a few hundred rows and asks for the SOC 2/SOC 1 reports. The founder replies, "we're working on it." The deal goes quiet, and by the time the actual report arrives, the champion has already moved on to something else.
I've watched this happen from the buyer's side of the table.
Where we learned it
At Goldman Sachs, UBS and Jefferies, no vendor got anywhere near client data without clearing a maze of information security. Nobody had the authority to make an exception and expedite the process. At Flipkart, we ran a lending business with a regulator watching and lenders auditing our numbers. A small data incident could have led to us or our partners losing our licenses from the regulators.
So when we started Elimentary, security wasn't something to sort out after product-market fit. Our clients hand us sensitive, material non-public information. If we can't protect that, nothing else we build matters.
What we have
SOC 1 Type I: an independent audit of the financial controls
SOC 2 Type II: an independent audit of our security controls
ISO 27001: certified information security management
GDPR: compliant handling of EU and UK personal data
CCPA: compliant handling of California consumer data
What it did for our sales cycle
When procurement asked for our SOC reports, we sent them right after the call. The spreadsheet with 300 questions was answered within the same day. We were able to start on the legal contract while the deal still had momentum. We are working with some publicly listed companies. Their bar for vendors is extremely high, and it should be. We cleared every single security and procurement process without asking for even one exception.
Built to work across borders
Our clients sit in the US and India, and the funds they serve are often spread across the globe. With ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2, SOC 1 and CCPA already in place, a new geography doesn't mean a new compliance project for us.
If you're running diligence on us
We'll share our SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports and security documentation under NDA. Email founders@elimentary.com or ask whoever you're already talking to on our team.
